[Food & Beverage]
Headed over to Impiana Hotel KLCC with MHB’s Sarah Low, Andy Kho and resident foodie Kelly Siew to try out their buka puasa buffet.
Impiana Hotel KLCC is a chic business hotel that is centrally located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Equipped with a total of 519 rooms and five (5) dining establishments, the hotel is connected via a multi-million ringgit fully air-conditional link-bridge linking the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to Pavilion while the KLCC Twin Towers is just a five (5) minute walk away.
This year the theme for the Ramadan buffet in Impiana Hotel’s Tonka Bean Cafe is ‘SANTAPAN RAMADAN’.
The main buffet line. There were separate areas for the live cooking stations and also the dessert, and drinks stations. As we were there for the preview the full spread of over 100 dishes was not there but expect it to be during Ramadan.
Roast lamb! Ask for the doneness that you want then choose from a variety of sauces and condiments to complement it.
The noodles station had Curry Laksa, Penang Laksa, Mee Soto, Mee Rebus, Mee Mamak, and even Char Koay Teow!
I really liked the saltiness of the smoked salmon and used it to top of my Caesar salad!
Fresh mussels. I had quite a few of these!
The salad bar with a huge variety of dressings! There was also the local Malaysian salad bar next to it for those who prefer local flavour.
Grilled salmon! I tend to avoid this dish as I always think it’s dry and flaky but surprisingly it was nice and juicy!
I’m not much of a vege person so I didn’t try this
Beautiful fresh prawns! Ate these babies with the thousand island dressing!
Crab! This was Sarah’s favourite but I lacked the patience to open the shell so I only had two pieces. Nice and juicy though!
There was a huge selection of local dishes – Malay, Chinese and Indian! I loved the chicken curry and beef rendang and do look out for the tomyam soup (soups are rotated daily though). A few that I remember are Nasi Tomato, Ayam Sambal Merah, Nasi Ulam, Ayam Goreng Belacan, Daging Kawah, Gulai Telur Itik dengan Belimbing Buluh, Petola Tumis Air Soo Hoon, Ikan Bawal Masak Siam, Steamed Tofu with Mushroom and Soya, Salted Prawn, Chili Crab, Stir Fried Ginger Beef, Chicken Rice, Yong Tau Foo with sauce, Chinese Fried Rice with Silver Anchovy, Braised Chicken with Preserved Vegetables.
A variety of desserts for those with a sweet tooth
Malay kueh and fresh fruits for those who are more health conscious
Freshly made apam balik!
This was and still is my favourite dessert when I go to pasar malam
Met my journalist friend Mek Zhin there too and had a good chat
Andy and I had loads of Baskin Robbins ice cream for dessert while Kelly was happily eating her Pengat Pisang. Definitely a very satisfying meal!
The buffet will be priced at RM108.00++ per adult from 10th July 2013 until 7th August 2013.
Children from six until 12 years old and senior citizens above 55 years old are charged at RM 54.00++ per person while children below the age of six get to dine for free!
On the first and last three days of Ramadan, diners will enjoy a special offer only at RM98.00++ per person. The buffet starts from 6.30 pm and runs up to 10.00pm.
The best part is that you can have as much Baskin Robbin’s ice cream and durian as you want! But please eat the durian outside in the al-fresco area as not to stink up the hotel!
Impiana Hotel & Spa KLCC is having a special promotion whereby diners will receive an Aquaria KLCC special voucher each which enables to holder to enjoy a deduction of RM5.00 on entrance ticket upon presenting the voucher at the ticketing counter.
