MHB rarely ventures out for reviews in the daytime however we decided to take a chance to see what all the fuss over this German/ Swiss bakery was about.
Bread Basket’s owner Sven came to KL to work a couple of years ago and to his dismay there was no really good bakery where he could get his fix of authentic German and European pastries so he decided to open his very own bakery!
Thus Bread Basket opened its doors in March 2010 at The Sphere, Bangsar South and quickly developed a following among the expatriate community nearby and soon the office community based in the office and commercial buildings as well!
.
Nestled in a corner of Bangsar South is Bread BasketBread Basket is a bakery. You come in, buy your pastry or cake and can choose to have a nice drink to go with it and at the tables outside. The menuLight fluffy croissants which were made from Australian butter instead of margerine which causes a rubbery textureNow there are two different sorts of pastries here – one the more orginal German/ European style and one catered more towards the Malaysian consumer (spicy curry puffs, etc. etc.). I did think though that both types are pretty good! The food at Bread Basket is halal and they are quite popular with Muslim office workers in the area
Malaysians just love our curry puffs don’t we? The ones at Bread Basket are surprisingly spicy!
Perhaps you’d like a light lunch? Try out the sandwiches at Bread Basket and pair it with a nice drink! They do have sandwich + drink sets.Like coffee? Try the German coffee which is brewed using coffee beans which have been roasted in Germany. For coffee lovers who like a strong coffee flavour but don’t worry if you’re not as they have other non-coffee drinks (tea, hot chocolate, juices) too!Hot chocolate (left) and a caffe macchiato which is an expresso marked with a little milk. There are an assortment of cakes tooThe cakes are rotated daily and if you would like to order a whole cake just call them a couple of days in advanceLike European breads? You can take home a whole loaf of your fav variant. Some celebs have visited Bread Basket too!MHB’s senior members Jiayeen, Sarah and Kay with our MHB Academy members Jessica and Alvynna
.
Bread Basket also provides catering services for events and functions.
Psst! Bread Basket will be opening a couple of new outlets in Kuala Lumpur very soon so do keep your eyes peeled for this.
