[Movie]

.
I must admit that I’m more of an action movie type of guy and I don’t usually watch comedies (family or romantic) unless ‘forced’ to. However I had to accompany my MHB blogger for this one so decided to bite the bullet this time.
I was expecting to be sleeping through the 1 hour and 44 minute film however I was pleasantly surprised.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Parental Guidance movie follows the story of old school grandfather Artie, who is accustomed to calling the shots and who meets his match when he and his eager-to-please wife Diane agree to babysit their 3 grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents go away for work. But when 21st century problems collide with Artie and Diane’s old school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it’s learning to bend – and not holding your ground – that binds a family together.
Parental Guidance stars Billy Crystal, Bette Midler, and Marisa Tomei.
Here’s my take on it (don’t worry no spoilers here):
Billy Crystal is back to his extremely witty and funny self in this family comedy about family values and relationships. It’s a good movie however you will need to have a little knowledge of American family culture to truly appreciate this one. As most of you probably follow one (or more) American TV series and with the immense proliferation of American culture into our Malaysian lives I’m sure it won’t be too much of a problem.
The gem here is the dialogue. It’s very witty and you have to pay close attention to it. It’s a good family movie, one of the better ones in recent years that doesn’t rely totally on slapstick.
