Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers visited My CookBook in Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara which is a trendy restaurant which serves modern Malaysian cuisine. The food is your everyday Malaysian dishes served with finesse in a setting which combines modern and artistic aspects that achieves an edgy yet cosy vibe.

My Cookbook serves everything from appetizers, main course to dessert with a menu carefully designed by their head chef who used to run the kitchens of a renowned 5 star hotel in KL. Their beverage list is impressive for the size of the outlet and includes a good range of teas, coffee, beers (my fav Japanese beer – Asahi is served here) and wines from around the world that have been carefully selected to complement the food.

The interior dining area is beautifully decorated with the simplest things
MY Ice Lemon Tea – RM5.90 – sour (I don’t like super sweet drinks) and refreshing!
Chilled Ribena with Longan – RM6.90 – this was an interesting drink! Can’t go wrong with Ribena!
Fresh Apple Juice – RM8.90 – a healthy choice!
Homemade Chilled Sour Plum Juice – RM5.90
Yee Sang to start the night! Not your ordinary yee sang, this one is made of fruits! Can you spot the strawberries? Definitely a welcome change and a delicious appetiser.
Black-eyed Pea Cake with Salted Egg Yolk and CookBook Chili – RM8.90 – unusual but tasty!
45-minute Poached Egg with Black Cream Sauce served on Dried Scallop Toast – RM8.90 – 45 minutes poached egg??? It is amazing I tell you. I have never eaten anything like it. Light and creamy and goes nicely with the toast!
MY King Prawn Noodles in Prawn Bisque served with 45-minute Poached Egg – RM26.90 – look at the size of the prawns! Served with the 45 minute poached egg in a wonderful prawn bisque broth (which I happily finished hahaha!)
MY CookBook Fried Kuey Teow with Duck Egg – RM18.90 – I’m very fussy about my Char Kuey Teow and rarely eat it outside Penang but this one is acceptable! Pass!
MY Crispy Chicken Roll and Fragrant Rice served with Double-boiled Chicken Broth – RM18.90
MY Curry Laksa with Moon-face Wanton, Poached Chicken Roll and cockles – RM18.90 – I liked this one especially the fried wantons!
MY King Prawn Porridge with Century Egg and Ginger – RM26.90 – eat this while it’s warm (never eat food piping hot as it leads to throat cancer which will make you unable to eat anything!) to enjoy the full taste. Do not let this sit and become cold. You have been warned.
MY Barley Pandan Rice with CookBook Curry Chicken – RM18.90 – fragrant rice with curry chicken! Simple but nice!
MY Prawn Bisque with Prawn Wanton and Egg Beancurd – RM8.90 – bisque is one of my fav soups and this one was very flavourful and sweet!
MY Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Shimeji Mushroom – RM8.90 – another healthy item on the menu
Dried Curry Noodles with Crispy Chicken Roll and Long Beans
Organic Pumpkin Porridge with Vegetable and Yam Fritter – RM18.90 – I’m not a vege fan but this was alright
Hot Homemade Soya Milk with Barley and Black Sesame Beancurd – RM9.90 – not too sweet!
Oat Congee with Homemade Sesame Ice Cream and Sweet Corn – RM9.90 – this was unusual but it went quite nicely together. I liked the black sesame ice cream!
Black Glutinous Rice with Coconut Ice Cream and Peanut Beancurd – RM9.90 – I’m really not much of a dessert person but I liked the peanut beancurd in this dish!
Chilled Avocado Puree with Yam Ice Cream and Beancurd – RM9.90
Black Glutinous Rice with Pumpkin Puree and Durian Ice Cream – RM9.90 – I love durian but not all the girls shared my feelings towards the king of fruits so I happily helped myself to their share muahahaha!
Barley and Soya Bean Milk with Sesame Ice Cream and Peanut Beancurd – RM9.90 – now this was definitely my fav dessert of the lot!
Lemongrass Jello with Fresh Fruits – RM9.90 – a nice end to a good meal!
Coming in a large group? Why not call ahead and book one of the 2 private rooms on the 1st floor?
The top floor is a chill out bar/ lounge where you can head for drinks after dinner. It’s not usually this dark but we decided to play with the light coming from the bar.

In conclusion, My Cookbook is a really beautiful casual dining restaurant with food served fine dining style. Confused? Well just think of it as good Malaysian food with lovely presentation. It’s one of the better food outlets in Sunway Giza and somewhere you can bring your girlfriend/ boyfriend or your friends and family for a good meal.
