Food Review – Mayfair, The English Kitchen & Bar

The first time I went to Mayfair, The English Kitchen & Bar (Mayfair for short) was during their soft launch back in October 2010. Barely two months later I was back at Mayfair and it’s sister establishment Hex for the final 7aste party of 2010. After sampling some of their delicious pizzas during the 7aste party I went back to try out the food at Mayfair and I loved the pork knuckle!

So I contacted the nice folks at Mayfair who graciously agreed to host Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers for a food review.

Located at the PJ Trade Center just beside Damansara Perdana, Mayfair is a chill out restaurant and bar which has both indoor and al-fresco dining areas. The menu was originally designed by the head chef of Jarrod & Rawlins and includes a fine selection of meats and sausages that are supplied by the English deli.

Since its opening, Mayfair has expanded it’s menu to include signature dishes from all over Europe including…yes the pork knuckle! Yay! This was due to feedback from customers who shared what they would like to see on the menu.

Here’s what happened…

Mayfair - located at PJ Trade Center
Good thing we got there early. The inside dining area was full by 8.00pm
Nothing like an ice cold pint of Kilkenny to start off the night. Ahhh!
Mojito for the girls. A very refreshing cocktail!
Aperol Sour - another more citrusy but equally as refreshing cocktail!
The bartender mixing the cocktails for the girls.
Juices for Ashley and Sarah.
Aqua Panna - imported mineral water for Erica who was feeling under the weather that night
Mei Sze with her new glasses from Malaya Optical
The Caesar Salad - RM14 - served with crispy bacon bits!!! Yummm!!!
Tuna & Mushroom Pasta - RM23 - Erica's fav since it's a combination of her 2 fav foods - fish and pasta

Chorizo & Bacon Pizza - RM27 - ok I admit, I'm a bacon fan so this is another fav dish of mine. Just look at the cheese...
Sausages from Jarrod & Rawlins - big, tender and juicy!
Tender Hickory Pepper Baby Pork Ribs - RM60 - ahhhhhh lovely! Pass me another rib!!!
Crispy Pork Knuckle - RM45 - the star of the night! Served with sauerkraut, apple sauce, potatoes and brown sauce. I had to carve this up for the girls though.
Caught in the act...
Warm Bread Butter Pudding - RM14 - this was the prototype that Mayfair gave us to try before they added it to the menu. Currently served with vanilla icecream after Mei Sze insisted that it would go well together
Group pic with Kenneth and Thomas from Mayfair. Thanks for hosting us guys!

In conclusion, Mayfair is a great place to bring a couple of your buddies and satisfy your pork/ meat cravings (of European styled food of course) washed down with a few pints of ice-cold beer. If you’re feeling frisky after your meal, just head next door to the Hex Sensory Room (which is owned by the same peeps) for a more lively time.

As Mayfair is pretty new, they only charge 10% service charge and no government tax at the moment.

Remember to park in the basement of the building as it is well-lit, guarded and only RM2.00 per entry after 6pm. Choose to park outside and you could be harassed by the so-called car jockeys who will demand $$$ from you.
