Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve Launch
Headed down to the Westin in Kuala Lumpur on 28 January 2010 for the launch of the newest label in the Johnnie Walker family – Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve.
Here’s some info on the whisky:
There are seven million casks of maturing whiskies in the reserves of Johnnie Walker®. And every once in a while, the Master Blender sets aside a select few for his private reserve and the latest result is Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ which somewhat sadly will be replacing the Johnnie Walker Gold Label which I love for it’s smoky flavours.
The whiskies used to make this premium blend are some of the most elegant Scotch whiskies, with the sweet, fruity and warm Clynelish™ single malt at the heart of the Gold Label Reserve™. Its special ingredient is the water that flows over legendary gold deposits in the mountains of Kildonand in Scotland.
The Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ has a beautiful and grand structure that unfolds like a great big wave. Starting off with an intense sweetness, the flavours build up to a rich and fresh fruitiness, before mellowing out with a lingering softness.
Johnnie Walker® Master Blender, Jim Beveridge recommends serving the Gold Label Reserve™ with ice. The different layers of the whisky’s flavours are slowly revealed as the ice melts.
The result is a smooth whisky that’s easy to drink and yet flavourful. My favourite way to drink it is with a couple of cubes of ice and a dash of water.
