BYD Expands EV Network with New Showrooms & Service Centres Nationwide

BYD Sime Motors has crossed the 40-showroom mark in Malaysia, with nine additional service centres in progress that will bring the brand’s total aftersales touchpoints to 34 by the end of 2026. The expansion is both a response to and a driver of the brand’s rapid commercial momentum — BYD delivered 14,407 vehicles in 2025, a 68% increase over 2024, and is on track to reach 30,000 cumulative Malaysian customers by April 2026. It took the brand 20 months to acquire its first 10,000 customers; the second 10,000 came in just 13 months.

The growth story behind those numbers is striking. BYD rose from a Top 10 car brand in 2024 to become Malaysia’s sixth best-selling brand overall in 2025 and the fourth best-selling non-national brand — figures that reflect both the accelerating pace of EV adoption in Malaysia and BYD’s specific ability to capitalise on it. The brand has now held the title of Malaysia’s number one battery electric vehicle brand for three consecutive years.

“These milestones reflect the strong partnership between BYD and Sime Motors, as well as our shared commitment to raising the standards of EV ownership in Malaysia. A comprehensive network allows BYD to provide robust support throughout the ownership lifecycle as well as greater resale confidence. Each of our newest outlets are designed to deliver a more refined showroom experience, reflecting BYD’s promise to combine advanced technology with a premium, customer-centric environment. As the nation’s leading BEV brand, our focus is clear as we move forward. We will prioritise the needs of Malaysians as we continue to grow our nationwide network and strengthen every customer touchpoint. We are also grateful for the trust of our BYD community and remain firm in supporting them with ever increasing convenience, confidence and care.”

The expansion is notably broad in geographic scope, with BYD moving deliberately beyond the Klang Valley to establish footholds in secondary cities and underserved regions.

In the south, BYD has opened outlets in Muar and Kluang, extending coverage into Johor’s growing secondary cities beyond the established Johor Bahru presence. On the East Coast — a region where EV infrastructure has historically lagged behind the peninsula’s west — BYD Kuala Terengganu joins existing outlets in Kuantan and Kota Bahru, positioning the brand to capture rising demand across all three of the region’s main urban centres.

The northern region has seen the most concentrated activity: BYD Sungai Petani and BYD Juru are newly operational, while the BYD Ipoh 3S Centre is a particular standout. The Ipoh facility includes the city’s first dedicated EV charging hub, equipped with 240 kWh and 180 kWh DC chargers — a move that addresses charging accessibility in a city that, until now, had limited fast-charging options.

In the central region, the BYD Sri Hartamas 3S Centre takes an approach worth noting: it is located within a shopping mall, integrating sales, service, and spare parts under one roof in a format that allows customers to combine a service visit with other errands. It is a model that other brands have experimented with to varying effect, but one that suits BYD’s positioning as a brand seeking to normalise EV ownership rather than make it feel like a specialist pursuit.

The network also includes 12 Body & Paint outlets, with more planned — an infrastructure investment that signals BYD’s awareness that long-term ownership confidence depends on more than just the sales and service experience at point of purchase.

A flagship outlet is in the pipeline for Macalister, Penang. Branded BYD Mansion, the space will incorporate local cultural elements into its design — an approach BYD Sime Motors says will subsequently be rolled out across other showrooms as the company seeks to reflect both the BYD corporate identity and the character of the communities each outlet serves.

The aftersales infrastructure underpinning all of this is built around a pool of 80 EV-certified technicians trained through the BYD Academy, supported by a centralised parts warehouse designed to reduce waiting times and improve service transparency.

“Despite operating in an increasingly competitive market, we have proven our capability and resilience,” he said. “This year presents a fresh opportunity to further strengthen BYD’s nationwide presence with the focus on providing a more premium and elevated customer experience and delivering intelligent, zero-emission mobility solutions. We believe this is fundamental to spurring greater EV adoption in Malaysia.”
