Nissan Sylphy (2014) Launch

Headed over to the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on 29 April 2014 for the launch of the all new Nissan Sylphy. This is the third generation Sylphy and differs from the previous generation that I reviewed back in 2012 (you can read more about that here – https://timchew.net/2012/07/13/a-date-with-the-2012-nissan-sylphy/).

Edaran Tan Chong Motors (which is the official importer, manufacturer and distributor of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia) seems pretty aggressive this year and this launch comes hot on the heels of the launch of the new X-Gear which was just in March 2014 (https://timchew.net/2014/03/27/nissan-x-gear-2014-facelift-launch/).

 

 

 

The interior of the car is predominantly classy black and silver to give a premium feel to the vehicle

 

The car comes with a host of safety features which is something most consumers are very concerned about these days:

Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)

VDC helps drivers stay in control and avoid danger in emergency situations. It prevents sideway slides when changing lanes or taking corners on a slippery road surface.

Traction Control System (TCS)

When the standard Traction Control System senses drive-wheel spin, it responds by reducing throttle or applying brake pressure to help maintain traction.

Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

The standard ABS pumps the brakes in panic-braking situations to help prevent wheel lockup.

Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) with Brake Assist (BA)

Designed to send extra force to the rear brakes when there is additional weight in the back.

 

 

Premium features include:

PUSH-START IGNITION – No fumbling with keys.

INTELLIGENT KEY- Lock and unlock door and trunk, start engine and drive away without removing the i-key from purse or pocket. 

DUAL ZONE AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL – Warm or cool, drivers and passengers can adjust temperature to their own ideal setting. 

ECO DRIVE INDICATOR – Integrated into the instrument panel, the indicator feeds driver with real-time fuel consumption levels to improve driving.

SPORT MODE – Sport mode sharpens engine and CVT transmission response to rev up your senses.

STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS – Steering wheel comes with Cruise Control, Audio Control, Bluetooth Handsfree and Multi-Information Display (MID) Button for the convenience of the driver.

 

 

The new Nissan Sylphy is available from RM115,093.80 (on the road with insurance) and is available in Cayenne Red, Premium Black, Bronze Gold, Diamond White, and Brilliant Silver. The car comes with a 3 year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first).
