[Event – Automotive]
Headed to 1 Utama Shopping Centre on 26 March 2014 for the launch of the new Nissan X-GEAR (2014 facelift), which is a 5-seater crossover that comes with a spacious, premium interior, and flexible multi-configuration seat arrangement.
The theme of the launch was “Geared for Life!” – a reflection of one’s individuality and freedom to express oneself and explore life to the fullest. The new Nissan X-GEAR is targeted alike at both the young singles, and families who want a stylish crossover to reflect their individuality, yet is practical, economical, and combines a sporty and rugged look with versatile spaciousness and fuel-efficiency.
The new Nissan X-GEAR exterior features a new chrome V-Strut front grille with smoked horizontal panes, and new body side moulding and overfenders, new front bumper with black sump guard, new roof rails, new V-Spoke alloy rims, new engine hood and fender design, sleeker wing mirror and head lamps. Pretty much everything is new!
At the rear section, there are new tail lamps complemented with a new rear bumper design that comes with integrated rear reflectors and a high-mounted LED brake light.
Interior wise, there is a new seat fabric design, and a new Fine Vision Meter cluster with Multi-Information Display (MID).

The new three-spoke steering wheel incorporates control switches for the Wide 2-DIN audio system with AUX Input, and controls for the Multi-Information Display (MID) so your hands don’t need to leave the steering wheel.

If you need more room you can fold down the 60:40 split-fold rear seats that doubles the available luggage space from 383 litres to 769 litres. Cyclists will be happy as the roof rail has a load carrying capacity of up to 25kgs, and so is suitable for carrying a mountain bike.
Safety is enhanced with front seatbelts equipped with pre-tensioners and load limiters which are in compliance with the latest UNECE crash tests. Dual front SRS airbags are standard together with the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist System (BA).
The new Nissan X-GEAR is powered by a 1.6-litre HRDE16 all-aluminium, compact and lightweight four-cylinder engine that produces 105PS and 150Nm of torque, mated to an electronically-controlled four-speed automatic transmission. This engine which is equipped with valve timing control technology, is said to deliver responsive performance, and exceptional fuel efficiency but that’s something I’ll need to confirm after I test-drive it.

The IMPUL package includes:
- IMPUL rear roof spoiler – RM700.00
- 17” IMPUL AURA SX-20 Alloy Wheels (4 pieces including centre cap and air valve) – RM4,500.00 per set of 4
- IMPUL Sports Suspension System – RM2,800.00
