Rexona launched its proprietary mobile application, Rexona Move at Berjaya Times Square on 11 June 2013 to inspire men and women to play their part to improve the lives of the underprivileged children. This innovative yet meaningful mobile application serves to transform one’s simple movements such as walking, cycling, dancing and even shopping into meaningful deeds for the children. Rexona Move is also aimed at uniting Malaysians to create one concerted move to complete 10,695km, the total length connecting the 13 states in Malaysia and for each state covered, Rexona will activate its aid to underprivileged children.

“Rexona is all about empowering our consumers to embrace life with confidence. It is our mission to allow our consumers to lead an active and vibrant lifestyle, enabling them to do more and achieve a sense of self-accomplishment. Understanding that consumers today are looking for brands to do more than just providing quality products, Rexona is taking the lead to embark on a journey to address societal issues together with our consumers and communities. Rexona Move is a platform created for our consumers to extend their personal gain to achieve a greater good,” said Ashlee Ng, Brand Building Director, Unilever (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd, at the launch at Berjaya Times Square.

“We want to inspire our consumers to not only do more, but also do good and make every sweat count for the less fortunate children in our country through an easy platform, Rexona Move. With this socially-driven mobile application, we also aim at mobilising Malaysians to create one collaborative effort to change lives. Hence, on behalf of Rexona, I would like call upon every Malaysians to take actions and play their parts to help the underprivileged children. You, your friends and families – everyone has the power to make a difference because every step one takes, we are one step closer to improve a child’s life,” added Ng.

Headlining the launch were advocates of Rexona Move, Sazzy Falak and Nazril Idrus who expressed, “It is rather upsetting to see that the number of children not receiving sufficient basic necessities and education is still high considering the fast-development we experience in the country. We are really glad to be a part of Rexona Move, a very meaningful campaign to drive Malaysians to take actions to help our kids.”

MELCO Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd formally announced its name change to Mitsubishi Electric Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd. at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa on 18 June 2013.

In his maiden speech as the new Managing Director of Mitsubishi Electric Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Mr. Shoichi Suwa said that the name change is most significant as it signifies the recognition given to the Malaysian operations by its parent company in Japan.

Said Mr. Suwa, “At the formation of a Mitsubishi Electric Group subsidiary company, it is Mitsubishi Electric Group’s sacred policy to only allow the name MELCO, which stands for Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, to be used as a part of the company name and not Mitsubishi Electric as a part of the company name.”

“This sacred policy is a stringent test to the new company’s ability to prove its capability in delivering the hallmark Vision and Mission of the Mitsubishi Electric Group that is fiercely protected by its 120,000-strong employees worldwide. It is only when a MELCO-named company is able to achieve the highest standard demanded that it is accorded the privilege and status of using Mitsubishi Electric as a part of its company name.”

“All our successes have been well-documented and we are really proud that our parent company has accorded us this highest privilege of using the name Mitsubishi Electric Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd as the new identity of our Malaysian operations. And we pledge to renew our commitment to provide the best quality products and services to Malaysia like what we have been providing for more than 30 years.” concluded Mr. Suwa.

Mitsubishi Electric also took the opportunity to launch their new range of regulatory compliant energy-saving eco-friendly products like air conditioners, refrigerators, electric fans and hand dryers.
