On 1 July 2012, Tom, Dick & Harry’s will be having a run in aid of the Malaysian Aids Foundation. Named the Tom, Dick & Harry’s A “Mou Man Tai” Life 5km Night Run, this run hopes raise funds for the Malaysian Aids Foundation (MAF) with RM10.00 from every participant’s fee going to MAF.
The run promises to be an unforgettable evening and loads of fun as there will be an after-party after participants finish the course.
Run Details:
Date: 1 July 2012 (Sunday)
Time: 5.00pm
Venue: Tom, Dick & Harry’s Taman Tun
Fee: RM40.00 per runner which includes – 1 X Exclusive TDH T-shirt, Pre-Run Drinks, FREE-FLOW after the run whilst stocks lasts
(RM10 from the fee goes to the Malaysian Aids Foundation)
The MAF representative gave a short insight into the disease of which there were two (2) key points:
1. Method of transmission – HIV can be transmitted by these 3 ways
- Unprotected sex – if you must have pre-marital sex, make sure you use a condom. It not only protects you from HIV infection but also offers a certain degree of protection from some really nasty STDs. Also you won’t need to worry so much about making the girl pregnant or for women – getting pregnant.
- Blood transfusion via used needles, etc. etc. – don’t do drugs. Period!
- From mother to infant
2. People who live with HIV should not be discriminated against. Would you say unpleasant things about a cancer patient? No right? You would probably go over and offer help if this person is a friend of yours. Similarly we should not deride people living with HIV. It is safe to go near and touch and you won’t get infected unless you decide to exchange blood with them. It’s not always their fault so stop treating them like trash.
