ABSOLUT Brand Education at Black Box, Solaris Dutamas on 10 November 2010.
This was my first time attending a ‘classroom’ type event by ABSOLUT. Usually it is some happening party somewhere in KL so I was pretty curious and brought along Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers Sarah and Nicole.
Arriving at the Black Box (MAP KL) in Solaris Dutamas we were ushered into the ‘classroom’ complete with a mixing bar and projector screen we served delicious ABSOLUT infused canapes before the session started.
So here’s a brief history on ABSOLUT (well what I can remember that is).
ABSOLUT is made in the little Swedish town of Ahus in Sweden and has been in the market since 1979. The vodka is totally made in Ahus, yes you read it correctly – EVERYTHING is made in Ahus (except the bottle which is made in a nearby Swedish town). The winter wheat is grown around the town, the pure water is sourced from beneath the town, the distillation, blending the flavours (for the flavoured ABSOLUT vodkas), bottling, and shipping .This is to ensure quality and consistency in every bottle of ABSOLUT vodka around the world/
Inspired by Swedish vodka maker L.O. Smith (whose picture is on every bottle), ABSOLUT is made using a process called ‘continuous distillation’ which ensures that the finish product is of the highest quality.
We got to taste some of the many different flavoured ABSOLUT vodkas – Citron, Mandarin, Kurant, Peach and my absolute (pardon the pun) favourite ABSOLUT Vanilia!
We also got to conduct a blind tasting which pitted the original ABSOLUT (blue label) against some other brands. Then to the fun part! The two ABSOLUT global brand ambassadors (who were our teachers for the night) made some ABSOLUT cocktails for us but not before letting the more adventurous of us students try the fastest Bloody Mary in the world.
The rest of the night was a blur of drinking vodka and cocktails. Many thanks to ABSOLUT Malaysia for inviting us to participate in the ABSOLUT Akademi.
