Movie – Premium Rush

[Movie]

This story is set in New York City where despite the proliferation of email and fax there is still a need for the urgent despatch hence the courier service called ‘Premium Rush’ that is one of a couple such agencies which provide bike messengers to deliver stuff from point A to B in the bustling city.

Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day’s work for Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), the best of New York’s agile and aggressive bicycle messengers.  It takes a special breed to ride the fixie – super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic.  But a guy who’s used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when his last envelope of the day – a routine “premium rush” run – turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt starred alongside Leonardo diCaprio in Inception and was Robin starring alongside Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises. Finally he gets a starring role in a movie.

His love interest is played by Dania Ramirez who previously played Alex in Entourage, Maya Herrera in Heroes, Blanca in The Sopranos, and Callisto in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Expects loads of biking throughout New York City.

And lots of sweaty but super-fit cyclists

Remember to always wear a helmet when you’re cycling!

I must say that I didn’t expect much from this movie but I was pleasantly surprised with the multi-dimensioned storyline which hops to different points of the timeline. Confused? Well if you’re a fan of cycling or Joseph Gordon-Levitt you should check this movie out.

Premium Rush opens in Malaysian cinemas on 23 August 2012.
