MHB Visits Mezza9 at Desa Sri Hartamas

[Food]

Brought the MHB girls over to Desa Sri Hartamas to try out a newly opened restaurant – Mezza9 located in the newly opened Glomac Galleria (facing the Sprint Highway and perpendicular to the block of shops housing KFC). Billed as an ID concept restaurant bar, Mezza9 serves Italian, French and Mediterranean Fusion cuisine which is prepared and cooked by the chef who was formerly from Sentidos Tapas in Starhill.

The ground floor is non smoking zone while smoking is permitted on the mezzanine floor where the bar is located

Head Chef Sean Wong earned his culinary skills from Westminster and Kings College in London. He furthered his cooking passion mastering deserts with Alex Pastry Factory(London). Sean previously provided his services at Dukes Hotel, a worldwide franchise based in London, Checkers Italian Restaurant (London), Sentidos Tapas, Starhill and Flamenco Kuala Lumpur.

I started off with Hoegaarden while the girls preferred some wine

Deep fried cod stick with homemade tartare sauce – definitely not your average fish fingers this one! Crispy outer batter coats tender and fresh fish

Garlic prawns – for those of you who need your seafood fix. You might not want to kiss your girlfriend/ boyfriend after eating this one though…

Mushroom Bruschetta – I think the chef must have brought this recipe over from Sentidos. Mushrooms in cream over french loaf. Pretty good!

Braised oxtail – this was my fav starter! Tender and delicious pieces of oxtail!

Caesar Salad – not dripping in dressing though I would prefer a little more. Could probably have requested for more dressing from the kitchen although we didn’t.

Honey & grain mustard glazed salmon – this was pretty good. Would have preferred more sauce though. I thought the crunchy asparagus was a nice addition too.

mezza9 fusion seafood paella – I think the theme for the night was seafood which was totally fine with me as I do love eating seafood every now and then (can’t do it too often as I need to watch my cholesterol levels)

Spaghetti roast duck – now this is a pasta dish that I’ve never tried before and I must say that it was delicious! The duck was cooked well (no strong ducky smell) and went well with the spicy sauce.

Mint marinated rack of lamb fondant potato & roasted cherry – juicy lamb racks. However compared to the rest I did think this serving was rather small and as an entrée would probably not satisfy my appetite.

Spaghetti aglio olio with king prawns – scallops, huge prawns and even a dollop of red and black caviar!

Chocolate lava cake with orange cream anglaise – the girls liked this one and so did I. I mean who can say no to this?

Profiteroles – another fav of the girls. Eat it fast before the ice-cream melts.

Mezza9 currently has a wine buffet on Wednesday nights. Check out their Facebook page for more info (link below).

There is ample parking in the basement as not many shops have opened in the complex yet.

I brought my brother’s desk lamp over for added lighting. Yes not fun lugging it around however I think the photos look better this way (ok ok so I overexposed the seafood aglio alio photo). What do you think?

  1. Is this a food review? Where are the comments about the food? Taste, texture, balance, etc… not a single word about the most essential characteristics of the main actor on your post: the food

  2. Been there a few times already and my absolutely favourites are the mushroom bruschetta and the chocolate lava cake (their strawberry tart is quite amazing too). I did enjoy the duck pasta on first visit and the salmon main dish on my latest visit. KL restaurants have a lot to learn from this place.
