Ok ok those of you who know me well know that I’m a ‘banana’. Chinese which doesn’t know how to speak Mandarin (my Hokkien and Cantonese is also half pass six). But lately I’ve been spending time with grandma and I noticed that she’s been watching a series that’s looks like it’s shot in the 70’s and 80’s but the direction and video quality is definitely of the current times. Further investigation online led me to NTV7’s website where you can watch re-runs of lots of programmes.
So anyway long story short, I’m hooked to this series which runs nightly on NTV7 from 10.00pm to 11.00pm. Find that hard to believe? Me too as there’s rarely a Chinese series good enough to have me hooked and most are Hong Kong productions.
Tribulations of Life is a Mediacorp production (I used to work for Mediacorp once upon a time) which brings viewers back to the 70’s and 80’s (this I can relate to a bit as I’m an 80’s baby). Intertwined together is a story of love, betrayal, and family with twists and action. Here’s the opening sequence.
Another reason I’m watching Tribulations of Life? TIFFANY LEONG – a Malaysian model and TV host!
Tribulations of Life runs on NTV7 from 10.00pm to 11.00pm but it’s already episode 26 (out of 30) so you might wanna catch it on tonton.com.my instead.
